Definition Dance Academy, 2525 N. Elston, Chicago 60647 There is no fee to Audition. Dancers of all colors, genders, and ages are encouraged to audition.

There is free street parking available.

Register for the Audition

We are looking for Dancers to fill the following positions:

1. Winifred Haun & Dancers (WH&D) Company Dancer Contracts are from March 25, 2025 to June, 2025 (approximately 10 weeks), or August 2025 to June 2026, and include Company Class, hourly rehearsal & performance pay, and teaching & choreographing opportunities. Rehearsals are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 1:30pm and, occasional Fridays from 10am to 1pm. We regularly rehearse at Definition Dance Academy, but we sometimes rehearse at other locations, such as Maywood Fine Arts - Stairway of the Stars in Maywood, IL.

Qualified candidates will: *possess a strong technical background in modern/contemporary and ballet *have performing experience *be available for rehearsals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 1:30pm and occasional Fridays 2. Chicago Movement Collective (CMC) Scholarship Award includes the opportunity to train in ballet, modern, contemporary, and more with Chicago’s best dance instructors. Award includes 10 classes per week, coaching, and more. Classes available Monday thru Friday, 10:00am to 1:15pm currently at Definition Dance Academy. More about CMC's Scholarship Award can be found here. 3. 3rd Coast Contemporary Dance Program (3CCDP) is a partnership between WH&D and CMC that offers affordable training and professional performance opportunities to dancers ages 17 to 26. Audition Requirements: There is NO pre-registration or fee required. Filling out the form is helpful for us but, you do not have to fill it out to Audition. You can just show up at the Audition on Sun, January 21st. If you have a resume and photo, feel free to bring them to the Audition, but don't make any special effort to produce these things especially for this Audition. We mostly just want to see you dance.

How the Audition will work: We won't teach a warm-up, but feel free to come early to warm yourself up. Registration will begin at 4:15pm. When you arrive, you’ll be asked to fill out paperwork. All dancers should be ready to dance at 5:00pm. The dance part of the Audition will go like this: 1. We'll teach an adagio combination. 2. We'll teach a jump combination and/or possibly something from WH&D repertory. 3. We may ask you to do a short improvisation sequence. 4. Some dancers may be invited to stay and learn more WH&D repertory.

Decisions about all positions will be made by or before March 17, 2025
